Paste your text and turn it into upper or lower case, sentence case or text without accents in one click. Handy when the text was typed with Caps Lock on.
The change happens in your browser. Your text goes nowhere.
What the buttons do
UPPER CASE turns the whole text into capitals, including accented letters.
Lower case turns everything into small letters.
Sentence case keeps a capital only at the start of each sentence and paragraph.
Title Case starts every word with a capital letter, as in English titles.
Toggle case swaps capitals and small letters, for text typed with Caps Lock on.
Strip accents turns accented letters into plain ones, for example for file names and web addresses.
Sentence case does not recognise names, so fix them by hand afterwards. The Undo button brings back the previous version.
Capital letters in Polish titles
In Polish titles and headings only the first word and proper names start with a capital. Title Case is an English habit and looks like a mistake in Polish, including in a page title in Google.
When to strip accents
Accented letters work in web addresses, file names and text messages today, but not always well. A text message with an accented letter holds 70 characters instead of 160, and a file with accents in its name may be saved incorrectly on a server. For page addresses, file names and text messages, plain letters are safer.
Frequently asked questions
How do I change upper case to lower case in Word?
Select the text and press Shift+F3. Each press switches between lower case, upper case and capitalised words. In Google Docs the option is in the Format menu, under Text.
Does the tool handle accented letters?
Yes. Polish and other accented letters change correctly both ways.
Does my text go anywhere?
No. The change happens in your browser and we send nothing.
Why is text in capitals hard to read?
Capitals have a similar shape and height, so the eye recognises words less easily. Long text in capitals is slower to read and in messages it reads like shouting. Use capitals for short labels and abbreviations.
